I’ve discussed here, before, I think, how interesting it would be if Data had been found, not by a Federation crew, but by a different alien faction - how his life might have turned out if he were salvaged by the Ferengi or picked up by the Pakleds, or, in the present case, the Klingons. In this AU Data ends up in the custody of the House of Mogh. His immense physical strength and speed were initially seen as ultimate warrior material, but once the Klingons noted his total lack of aggression and passion, they went off him a bit. He ended up serving as a sort of combined nanny and bodyguard to Mogh’s young sons. It was because he was looking after Worf that he survived the attack on Khitomer. In this scenario, he joined Starfleet because Worf did; they are inseparable, and Worf considers Data his brother.
And this is where, if I could draw, I’d draw Data and Little Worf, both in Klingon clothing, and Data is sitting on the ground and Little Worf is drawing ridges on his forehead with a marker.
