why is it that every time starfleet encounters a member of an alien species even if it’s just some random isolated guy living in a shack in the alien equivalent of the jungle they’re extensively well-versed in their species’ history and current political entanglements and the geography of the planet
#like if aliens bumped into me on a camping trip or something i’d be like ”umm…yeah dude you’re gonna have to talk to someone else” #”THIS IS NOT THE PRIMARY SOURCE YOU’RE LOOKING FOR” #i just want them to find some uneducated lazy asshole ok
